Amazing Drone Wedding Photography in Iceland

We love trying to capture the most epic wedding photos for our clients. Photos that show the couple secluded in this vast and dramatic landscape in Iceland. For years we have been achieving this the old fashioned way; by placing the couple in a nice spot within the landscape and us shooting from far away with a good vantage point to create that epic wedding photo in the breathtaking Icelandic scenery. This however sometimes involves a considerable amount of running on our part and then giving directions with distant hand gestures and walkie talkies.

We finally decided to add a drone to our camera gear a couple of years ago. We absolutely love it and Hobie is especially happy when he gets to fly "his toy" around on the job. Now we are able to create even more epic and more creative wedding photography with the help of the drone! We have been so stoked on the high quality wedding photos that we have been able to capture with the drone. And, we are also continually impressed with how well the drone battles the wind (yeah, it can get a little breezy in Iceland) and we have even tried flying it through a light mist of rain without any problems. Even after a couple of years, we are still discovering new perspectives to show the iconic landscape in new and interesting ways. Really, the possibilities are endless.

When flying the drone we always want to be respectful of nature and wildlife and of other people that might be around. It is also very important to follow the rules at each location - e.g. there are no drones allowed at some of the national parks in Iceland (Þingvellir National Park and Vatnajökull National Park) and at some of the popular tourist attractions signs have been put up that say that drones are banned in the area (Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Dyrhólaey and Jökulsárlón). Just something to think about if you are flying your drone in Iceland.
