If you still have questions after reading this page, please feel free to get in touch or schedule a free consultation with us!
Your photographers …
-
Yes, we do! We are local Iceland wedding photographers based in Reykjavík and Selfoss. Halldora is born and raised in Iceland and Hobie has lived in Iceland since 2012.
-
Halldora and Hobie are a husband-and-wife photography team based in Iceland. With Bachelor’s degrees in photography, they bring over 10 years of full-time professional experience to every shoot, along with even more years in the field. They love working together so generally you can expect to have both of them photographing you.
-
We have photographed weddings in Europe and in the US. Hobie is also a California elopement photographer as well as an automotive photographer. But ultimately Iceland is our home and we feel fortunate that we get to be destination wedding photographers without having to travel outside of our home country.
-
Over the last 10+ years, we have had the privilege of photographing over 500 couples all across Iceland; from black sand beaches to glacier lagoons, active volcanoes to waterfalls and more.
In addition, we also have extensive experience photographing both intimate and traditional weddings in California. As well as various events; from sports to families to corporate incentive trips.
-
We use top of the line Canon cameras and lenses and DJI drones.
The photo session and what to expect …
-
All your photos will be fully edited. You can expect 150+ photos for a 1-2 hour photo session, 300+ photos for a 4 hour photo session, 500+ photos for an 8 hour photo session and 800+ for a two day photo session.
These are just the minimums that we promise and the total number of photos your receive could easily be higher.
-
Yes, absolutely! We are available for a variety of events and occasions. Such as honeymoon photos, anniversary, pre-wedding, post-wedding, couple, engagement, proposal, family, corporate events and corporate incentive trips.
-
While we specialize in intimate elopements and small weddings (20 guests or fewer), we do occasionally take on big weddings as well. We limit ourselves to no more than 5 big weddings per year and availability is dependent on our schedule.
-
Often times dresses stay surprisingly clean through out the day. There is of course always a chance that your dress may get a little dirty depending on the conditions. It’s all a part of the adventure though isn’t it - a part of your story. We have never heard of a dress being ruined by the elements and it is amazing what dry cleaning can do!
-
Delivery of all photos can take up to 3 months although you can generally expect to have all of your photos delivered more quickly. You will receive 20+ highlight photos 14 days after your photo session.
All of the photos will be displayed in a beautiful online gallery where you can both download the processed photos in a full, printable resolution and share them with your family and friends.
In case you need your photos delivered more quickly then please just let us know and we will prioritize accordingly.
-
Yes, it is technically possible but it is not something we can recommend.
As romantic as it sounds to have a northern lights proposal or a northern lights wedding, the northern lights are near impossible to plan around due to their unpredictability. Additionally we will need clear or nearly clear skies.
For that reason we highly advise you to start by scheduling a daylight photo session with us that ends around sunset. Then if the conditions look promising for northern lights at the end of your photo session then we can try our luck.
If no luck then you are more than welcome to contact us if you happen to see the northern lights during your stay - if we are nearby then we can swing by and take a few photos with you.
Planning, logistics and other local vendors …
-
Yes, absolutely! We are not just your photographers. We are also your local guides and planning partners. This is an important part of our job, especially since many of our clients are planning their weddings from a different country. We will help you with location suggestions and put together a timeline that makes sense with all of your favourites. Our local knowledge and expertise really comes in handy here.
-
While we are not wedding planners, we do help all our clients plan their day and always do our best to guide them in the right directions with anything wedding or Iceland related.
-
Let us know what you are looking for and we will send you a list of our favorite local professionals in Iceland! E.g. if you need a celebrant, a hair and makeup artist, a florist, a caterer, a restaurant, a wedding venues or a church etc.
-
No, we do not provide a wedding dress rental. Rental options in Iceland are unfortunately limited and therefore we highly recommend that you bring your own wedding dress and suit.
-
Yes! We almost always carry clear umbrellas, so no need to try to fit one in your luggage. And, upon request we can bring items like champagne or champagne glasses.
Looking for something else? Let us know and I am certain we can make it happen for you.
-
Your personal transportation is not included in the photography package and we currently do not offer a transportation service but we would of course be happy to give you recommendations if needed - we know a few wonderful guides/drivers.
-
Yes, we offer a classic car rental. It is seasonal, available from May-October. Let us know if you are interested and we can tell you more!
-
Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon and the DC-3 plane wreck on Sólheimasandur are among the few places that we can no longer recommend for photo sessions. Fjaðrárglúfujr has too many ropes and restrictions which greatly affects the variety of photos that we can take there. The DC-3 plane wreck is too crowded in our opinion which makes it challenging to photograph and changes the whole experiences.
If you had your heart set on these locations, don’t worry, we can help you with alternative recommendations that will provided much better photo oportunities.
Weather & rescheduling …
-
It is a fair question - it is Iceland after all.
Short answer: Thankfully, 99% of the time the weather cooperates and we can carry on as planned.
However, in the event of storm warnings or road closures, then we are of course flexible and will either reschedule for a new date or move to a different area that has better weather.
-
The forecast in Iceland is incredibly unreliable and often changes hourly. So we would not recommend trusting it until 1 day in advance, at most or really not until the day of and even then it might still change. The weather can also be dramatically different just a few kilometers away. So the joke is that if you don't like the weather in Iceland then either wait 5 minutes or drive for 5 minutes.
-
Most often the rain holds off and it is important to note that when it rains in Iceland, it typically does not pour. The rain usually comes in the form of light mist with lots of breaks in between. In fact, we prefer cloudy days as the moody skies make for perfect lighting and the dreamiest photos.
We do have umbrellas and we can seek shelter in caves while we wait for a rain cloud to pass by or we could even take a little coffee break.
But even on a sunny day, there is always a small chance that we will get a little wet, e.g. from the spray from the waterfalls.
-
We generally do not reserve back up days in advance as it is so incredibly rare that we need to reschedule.
If having a back up day reserved is very important to you or if you have any questions then we are of course happy to discuss it and find a solution!
Booking, pricing and payment
-
Pricing starts at 150.000 ISK (about 1000 USD/EUR), with the average photography package being around 450.000 ISK (about 3500 USD/EUR). The biggest factors that affect the cost are the duration and travel distance.
Please find our current photography packages on our pricing page.
If our standard packages do not fit your needs then we would be happy to customize a package for you.
-
Yes, we can create a custom photography package to best fit your needs! Get in touch and we can talk more about your Iceland plans!
-
Yes! Many couples choose to turn their trip into a full experience. We offer multi-day coverage as well as custom adventure sessions (like hiking to a hidden canyon or exploring the highlands) either before or after your wedding day.
-
We will make a note of your date as soon as possible. Then when you are ready to officially reserve your date, we ask for a signed contract as well as a booking retainer. The remaining balance will be due on the day of your photo session.
We recommend reserving your date about 6-10 months in advance but don’t worry if you feel like you are running out of time - we are usually able to accommadate last minute bookings as well. -
We can accept payments by credit card (most common) or by a wire bank transfer.
